1 Nephi 2- Into the Wilderness

1 Nephi 2

Our father’s been dreaming

And Now we are moving,

“I obeyed God willingly,

They said they’d be killing me.”

No room for precious things,

No time for luxuries,

Just Tents and rationings,

This is for our family.

After three days of walking,

Pitched tents by the water,

Then built an altar of stone,

Their gratitude was shown.

Into the wilderness

Leaving silver and gold

Father dwelt in a tent

Why do we have to go?

My brothers’ hearts faltered,

Their murmuring voices

Opposing our father

They made their own choices

Oh Laman and Lemuel

God’s dealings they couldn’t feel

Dad’s life they tried to take

But God made their bodies shake

I just wanted to know

Is Father’s word for real

or is he losing his flow?

I cried to God and could feel

Into the wilderness

Leaving silver and gold

Father dwelt in a tent

Why do we have to go?

In my heart I felt peace,

but for my brothers just grief.

So even harder I prayed

then from God came this phrase:

If you keep my commands

you’ll prosper in the land.

Let your brothers choose this day

To follow or fall away.

If you faithfully stay

you’ll rule them one day.

Be strong and take a stand

You’ll find your promised land.

Into the wilderness

Leaving silver and gold

To the land of Promise

That’s why we have to go!
